Congratulations to Mary Carroll on her commitment and scholarship to Lewis University. Mary has been an Avalanche player for 2 years and we are very proud of her successes! Mary's hard work, determination and commitment to excellence has been a joy for Avalanche coaches to mentor her both on the court and off. Mary is excited as I'm sure is Head Coach Lorelee Smith to have Mary join her 2009 team. Mary- congratulations to you and your family! Congratulations on being the first athlete in the 2009 class recruited and committed! We are VERY PROUD OF YOU! We look forward to watching you play - as you will be local to us!

Class of 2008: Robesta Sanchez - Aurora University

Class of 2008: Tara Thomalla - Pasco Hernando

Tara had a tough decision to make regarding playing time and her role between other schools and Pasco Hernando in Florida. At the end of the day, she chose a school that will continue to develop her skills, provide her with playing time in a game she loves to play, and lead her to success in her volleyball future. Coach Kim Whitney and her team have a leading 90-32 record in 3 years followed by to appearances to the National Tournament in the last three years. Tara has to be excited about joining such a winning program. Tara, congratulations to you and your family. You have worked very hard and we are VERY proud of you! Enjoy the weather of Florida and go after your dreams!

Class of 2008: Laura Wakefield - Illinois State University

Congratulations to Laura Wakefield on her decision and commitment to Illinois State University for the 2008 season. Laura came to Avalanche VBC as a junior and did an amazing job playing on our #1 18's team both years. Laura is an amazing all around athlete. She dominates in net play, hits the ball with amazing power and has a gift for defense when in the back row. Laura- we are VERY proud of you and all the hard work you've done to get to this glorious moment. Congratulations to you and your family. I know they will enjoy having you close to watch and cheer you on in Redbird Arena.

Class of 2008: Amelia Karges - St. Louis University

Congratulations to Amelia Karges and her family on receiving a full-ride scholarship to St. Louis University for the 2008 class. Amelia has been an Avalanche family member for two-years and finished her tenure at Joliet Catholic High School. Amelia is a well-deserving setter who will take the floor this fall and truly make an impact there at St. Louis. Coaches Anne Kordes and Kyle Walton are so pleased that Amelia will soon be joining their family. They have high expectations for her - as do we. Amelia, congratulations to you and your family. Congratulations to Nicole Jones and her family on her decision to attend Augustana College in the fall of 2008. Nicole came to Avalanche just this year. However, her impact with her skills and her presence on the 18-Silver team is dually noted. Nicole, we are very excited for you and we appreciate your time here as an Avalanche family member. Class of 2007: Tara Kovel - Millikin University

Congratulations to Tara Kovel on her commitment to Millikin University. Tara is a two-year Avalanche player and was a stand out player for Minooka High School in her 4 years there. Tara had choices when it came to her college decision. She is sure that Millikin is the school for her and looks forward to being an instrumental part of that team in the future. Tara joins Head Coach Debbie Kiick and her staff in the 2007 season. She joins a winning program who went 23-14 in 2006. Tara, we are SO proud of you and SO happy for your family. Coach Julie Hall couldn't be more thrilled on Alison's commitment to Elmhurst. Alison had quite the recruiting ride. She fortunately officially visited schools represented in Division I & II prior to making her decision. She has truly chosen Elmhurst for many positive reasons. The town of Naperville is in united cheers on Stefanie McMillin's commitment choice of North Central College. Stefanie too had a colorful recruiting journey. After weighing some good choices, North Central's team, coach and academics won Stefanie's heart. She will go this fall and take the court as an impact player there! Stef - we are very proud of you! Senior, Ashley Johnson joins the Division I ranking athletes of Avalanche VBC bound to being an impact player as a freshman in the fall of 2006!
Senior, Ashley Johnson joins the Division I ranking athletes of Avalanche VBC bound to being an impact player as a freshman in the fall of 2006! Ashley becomes the 2nd of the Avalanche VBC athletes to verbally commit for the 2006 season. Ashley will proudly become an Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis Jaguar this fall. She will sign her NCAA letter of intent on April 12, 2006 along with other senior athletes from Avalanche VBC bound to play college volleyball. Ashley will major in Physical Therapy - staying open to the idea of Biology - possibly the next Dr. Johnson. Congratulations Ashley to you and your family! We are SO proud of you - and we are so happy that you are part of the Avalanche Family. Also, Congratulations to Coach Steve Payne and the Lady Jaguars! You are getting an amazing girl, dedicated student, and someone who passionately loves volleyball!

MORGAN BUCCIFERRO BECOMES AVALANCHE VBC'S FIRST OFFICIAL NCAA SIGNEE IN 2006

Morgan Bucciferro the 18's setter has committed to University of South Carolina- Upstate for the 2006 season.

She will officially sign on the NCAA signing date of: April 12, 2006.
There, Morgan will come into the program as an impact player who will play a significant role as a freshman.

Morgan will major in communications. Morgan is joined by 2 other top national recruits in her freshman class.

Morgan would like to thank Coach Jennifer Calloway for the opportunity to play for her and she looks VERY forward to joining her team on the floor this fall in Spartanburg. GO SPARTANS!!!!!!!
